Members of the u3a Painting and Art Group at a visit to Warwick Arts Centre for the Exhibition on Screen: ‘Caravaggio’

The Painting & Art Group meets in the convivial setting of the Common Room at Michael Blanning Place from 2:00 to 4:00pm every second and fourth Thursday of the month, during term time (so that those members who wish to do so can attend the monthly core meetings with ease).

For 2026, we are planning a wholesale re-launch of the Painting and Art Group - to include a programme of learning to use various techniques in order to develop members’ artistic skills and abilities, as well as learning about the artists who have used such techniques. We plan to alternate these learning sessions with ‘freestyle’ art sessions where members can undertake their own projects - or simply continue to practice the techniques they have been learning.

Most art materials will be provided for the learning sessions (though participants will additionally be asked to bring along their own pad of A3 cartridge paper to the sessions); together with tea, coffee and biscuits at breaks time.

The group will also continue its programme of visiting art galleries - plus putting on our own summer exhibition of work at Balsall Common Library.
