The new Pilates group is run by Abi Edmunds and meets every Thursday at BCVH. Abi is a Senior Physiotherapist and qualified Pilates Instructor practicing in the village.  There are two sessions aimed at different levels of ability as Abi outlines below.…

Abi offers both Sitting and Mat Pilates which have slightly different focuses, yet both are beneficial in their own right.

She recommends that you attend the Chair Based Pilates for your first session so both I and you can make sure that we work at the right level for you. The more I get to know you, the more I can tailor the exercises during the sessions to your specific needs! 

Chair / Standing / Walking PilatesMat Pilates
Set Up:Performed sitting on a chair, using chair as support and balancing / walking exercises. No need to get down to the floor. Safe and supported environment. Please wear grippy trainers and loose clothingPerformed on a mat on the floor. Requires ability to safely get down and back up from the floor several times through the session. Will be performed bare foot/socks on mats. 
Key Problems Addressed:Joint stiffness, reduced mobility, poor circulation, lower leg weakness, balance problems, risk of falls, early deconditioning, lack of confidence with movement.Hip stiffness, lower back discomfort, reduced core strength, poor posture, reduced flexibility, balance and coordination.

Start time and running times:

Sitting Pilates: Doors open 10.15am - class starts 10.20 - running time 50-55minutes. 

Mat Pilates: Doors open 11.15am - class starts 11.20 - 12.15 finish. Please bring your own mat for this class.
