First September Walk

Tuesday 1st September the walkers met at the Saracens Head and enjoyed the open countryside to the east of Balsall Common. Led by Richard Drake the started by walking towards Howlets Farm and Fernhill Lane. Walking around part of the Country Park they cut back to Balsall St. Crossing the road and taking some footpaths to Grange Farm. Then across lovely open fields circularing around before returninh to the Saracens Head.

Second August Walk

Wednesday 19th August ramblers met at the Plough Inn at Shustoke and let by Janet and Andy Heaven enjoyed a 5 mile walk around the local countryside. Including a circuit of the Shustoke Reservoir.

First August Walk

Tuesday 4th August 13 walkers met at the Anchor - Leek Wootton. Despite the recent high temperatures today was reasonably comfortable with a high of 25 C. Todays walk took them round the edge of The Warwickshire Golf Course, by the Warwickshire Police HQ and onto Rounds Hill, Kenilworth and to Oaks Farm. The return route was via the Millennium Way and across the middle of the golf course back to Leek Wootton. The walk was led by Peter Calver. The images below by Angela Reid

July Shorter Walk

On Thursday 30th July 27 members of the Shorter Walks Group met at the Saracens Head, led by Sandra Heard and Sue Simpson took a 3 mile walk out towards Fen End via the Millennium Way. The return route was via Fernhill Lane.

Second July Walk

Similar to the previous walk, we were in the middle of a heat wave. But this mornings started with some cloud cover and a temperature of 23 deg C rising to 26 Deg at the end of the walk. Today the walkers met at The Tiltyard in Kenilworth. Led by Mick O'Connor we walked along woodland paths and Rocky Lane to Ashow. Continuing through Ashow, over the River Avon to Blackdown Mill. The return walk was via Chesford Hotel along the B4115 rejoining Rocky Lane for the walk back to the pub.

First July Walk

12 walkers met at the Orange Tree, Chadwick Green for a 5 mile circular walk, led by Keith Simpson. at 10:00 the temperature was a pleasant 23 Deg C at the end of the walk it had risen to 28 deg C.

Second June Walk

The Walkers met in Kenilworth, on a day beset by a poor weather forecast. Despite this the rain did not materialise. Led by Liz Cowley and Sheila Jones the group headed out via Kenilworth Common to the Greenway. With a circuit around Crackley Woods they returned via Hollis Lane and Malthouse Lane to the starting point.

15 walkers met at the Queens Head in Meriden for a 6 mile ramble led by Alan Buckland. The weather forecast was not good for for this Tuesday morning but in the event we did not experience any adverse conditions. The walk past through Meriden Shafts on the Heart of England Way; then following Harvest Hill Lane to Harvest Hill; before rejoining field paths to Alspath Hall; then walking back to the Queens Head.

Second May Walk

Despite road blockages en-route caused by a police incident 9 Ramblers arrived at the Red Lion, near Earlswood lakes. Led by Judy Hornigold they enjoyed a 5.5 mile ramble starting at the lake and then walked towards Wythall, Tanners Green, Forshaw Heath across the golf course and back to the car park via Clowes Wood.

First May Ramble

Twenty Walkers met at the Fleur de Lys pub in Lowsenford on a bright late spring morning. Led by Matthew Stephens they did a 5 mile circular walk. The walk took them first them down the hill through woods to Coppice Farm. Then crossing the disused railway they headed down Preston Field lane crossing the ford towards Preston Bagot Church. After looking at the church they followed the path across fields to join the Stratford on Avon canal, walking the tow path they returned to the Pub.

Second April Ramble

The ramblers met at the Hatton Arms and led by Leslie and Carolyn de Chernatony enjoyed a 5 mile circular walk across fields, along farm tracks and returning along the tow path of the Grand Union canal alongside the Hatton Locks.

First April Ramble

Led by Matthew Stephens 14 members traversed paths around Warwick including the River Avon and The Grand Union Canal They were lucky enough to see two Herons, one on the Avon the other on the Canal. They ended up at the The Cape of Good Hope pub for a well earned lunch.

Second March Ramble

Wednesday 18th March saw 12 ramblers meet at Abbey Fields, Kenilworth. Lead by Geoff Kennedy they walked about 6 miles around the Kenilworth environs. This was the hottest day so far this year.

First March Ramble

On the 3rd March A mild dry day March 18 ramblers assembled at the Racehorse Pub in Warwick. Led by Mick O'Connor they enjoyed a 5.5 mile ramble. Walking to Warwick Castle and through to St Nicholas Park, along the bank of the River Avon. They then picked up The Grand Union canal and walked along the towpath back to the Saltisford Arm before returning to the pub across St Mary's Lands (Race Course).

February Shorter Walks 2026

20 members met at the Bull at Barston. Led by Matthew Stephens they walked to the West Midlands Golf club, around Barston Lake returning to the pub. The walk was 3.5 miles

Second February Walk 2026

8 hardy members of the Ramblers Group met at the Hatton Arms. On a cold but dry day, led by Robin Peacock They walked along the canal to Dark Lane past the entrance to Hatton World and then headed cross country. Using farm tracks and some very muddy fields.

First February Walk 2026

20 Members assembled at the Falcon Inn, Hatton, on a cold February Morning. The Weather Forecast was not goo, rain was expected for the duration of the walk, but apart from a few spots of rain we were lucky it stayed dry. The walk was led by Richard Glynn

New Years Day 2026 - Clear the Cobwebs Walk

30 members joined Richard Drake on the annual walkaround the rods and pathways of Balsall Common.

December 1st Ramble

On 2nd December there was a good number of walkers arrived at the Bear Inn Berkswell. They enjoyed a 5.5 mile circular walk in the local countryside led by Jill and Mick O'Connor. The weather was good a bright sunny day, but muddy underfoot.

November 2nd Ramble

19th November only 7 ramblers braved the cold. They met at the Queen and Castle in Meriden and enjoyed a 6 mile walk in the local countryside. The route was created by Alan Buckland but as he was not able to attend Peter Calver led the way.

October 2025 Shorter Walk

Thursday 30th October 17 members met at the Saracens Head. Led by Martin Richards they walked from Balsall St through the new Country Park and across the fields to Fen End. The return route took them along Longbrook Lane to the pub a total of 3 miles
